Chief Warrant Officer 5 (CW5) Julian Antoine Evans III was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on January 27, 1973. He enlisted in the United States Army in June 1993 and was appointed a U.S. Army Warrant Officer in 2002 as a 948D Electronics Maintenance Warrant Officer. He served as the U.S. Army Warrant Officer Career College Deputy Commandant when he passed away. He had over 30 years of service to this country! CW5 Evans served the nation honorably as an incredibly distinguished Soldier and warrant officer who received numerous awards and accolades. CW5 Evans was known and respected by his colleagues as a selfless leader who always placed the needs of his family, Soldiers, leaders, and fellow warrant officers before himself.
As a career Soldier, CW5 Evans served the Army at all levels. His assignments include Senior Warrant Officer Advisor for the Leader Development Division at TRADOC G3/5/7, Fort Eustis, Virginia; Strategic Planner for the Army People First Task Force; Senior Executive Technical Advisor; Deputy Product Manager for Program Executive Office Missiles & Space and the Air Defense Artillery Cross-Functional Team; Warrant Officer Advisor for the U.S. Aviation & Missile Command at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama; Department Head of Communications and Management at the U.S. Army Warrant Officer Career College, Fort Novosel, Alabama; Executive Officer for the Basic Officer Leadership Course, Fort Sill, Oklahoma; Training, Advising, and Counseling Officer of the Warrant Officer Candidate School at Fort Novosel, Alabama.
Julian also served in various technical roles such as Senior Electronic Missile Systems Maintenance Technician, 35th Air Defense Brigade, Osan, Korea; Senior Electronic Missile Systems Warrant Officer, 3rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command, Fort Knox, Kentucky; Battalion Maintenance Officer, 5th Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, Fort Stewart, Georgia (OIF-3); 1st Battalion, 3rd Air Defense Regiment; 1st Battalion, 39th Field Artillery at Fort Stewart, Georgia (OIF-1); 702 Main Support Battalion; 302 Forward Support Battalion; 5th Battalion, 5th Air Defense Regiment; 6th Battalion, 32nd Field Artillery; 6th Battalion, 37th Field Artillery Regiment, Korea, and 1st Battalion, 12th Field Artillery, Fort Sill, Oklahoma. CW5 Evans graduated from the U.S. Army Electronic Missile Systems Warrant Officer Basic Course and Advanced Course, Warrant Officer Staff Course, and Warrant Officer Senior Staff Course. CW5 Evans' professional and civilian education included Army Acquisition, Project Management, and Contract Management. He received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Trident University (TUI) and a Master of Business Administration from Webster University. His awards include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal (6th award), Army Commendation Medal (5th award), Army Achievement Medal (5th award), National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Combat Action Badge, as well as various other service medals and ribbons. CW5 Evans also received the Honorable Order of Samuel Sharpe and the Order of Saint Barbara. His love for his country and comrades made it easy for him to enrich the lives of those he served with personally and professionally. At the same time, Julian constantly helped accelerate the organization's overall performance to higher levels. CW5 Evans' infectious leadership style and legacy of excellence live on through the hundreds of officers, Soldiers, and Army civilians he dedicated his life to teaching, advising, and mentoring.
Julian's generous spirit and remarkable and outgoing personality touched the hearts and lives of so many. Regardless of the person's age, rank, or calling, Julian had the incredible ability to connect with others meaningfully, positively, and profoundly. Through his career and travels, Julian was highly intelligent and lived life to the fullest. He was a man of many gifts and many talents. Most important, Julian was a true man of God. He served as an Associate Minister at Progressive Union Missionary Baptist Church and in various other places of worship worldwide as he moved from location to location during his illustrious military career. Julian was also a member of the Huntsville Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha PSI, Inc., Warrant Officer Association, and an Alumni of Webster University. With his big, beautiful smile, Julian’s favorite thing in life was spending time with his lovely wife, whom he affectionally called "Bunny," and his family. Julian enjoyed cooking, golfing, reading, writing, and doing things that challenged him. Julian's role on earth was that of a special angel genuinely sent from God. CW5 Julian A.
